Members of The Valley Music Arabic Music Ensemble, or VAME gather together to study, rehearse and perform music of the Arab world and the Middle East. Our repertoire includes pieces of folk, traditional, contemporary, and classical styles. Started in 2019, the Valley Arabic Music Ensemble has performed for community and school events as well as producting our own concerts and halfas (parties).
We rehearse twice monthly in Northampton (currently on Wednesday at 7 PM) and welcome new members of all ages and genders who would like to explore this beautiful music in organized rehearsals with others. In addition to singers, our members play traditional Middle Eastern instruments – oud, qanun, nay, dumbek, frame drum and riq (tambourine) – as well as violin, bass, clarinet, trumpet, and accordion.
